Phone check

How Mobilo works

Mobilo keeps a permanent history for every phone it has ever seen, keyed to the IMEI. A check reads that history and shows you what is in it — separately, with sources, and with the gaps left visible.

The four signals, never merged

PTA status, stolen check, condition grade and seller record are four different questions. A phone can be registered with PTA and still be stolen. It can be in excellent condition and come from a seller with a bad record.

Collapsing them into one star rating would make the product easier to read and useless to trust, so Mobilo does not do it. You get four answers and you decide which ones matter for what you are buying.

Every claim carries its source

A status recorded by Mobilo staff and a status a vendor typed in are both shown, and they are never shown alike. The label under each signal names what was actually checked — “checked against Mobilo’s registry”, “the seller’s word” — rather than announcing a verdict.

Being clear about what Mobilo does not know is the trust feature. A tool that only ever says “looks fine” is not carrying any information.

The history is permanent

Every check, listing, report and inspection is appended to that phone’s record and never edited or deleted. A report that was later withdrawn stays on the record as a report that was made and withdrawn.

That is deliberate. A history you can quietly rewrite is not a history, and the value of this one is precisely that it accumulates.

What a stolen report does, and when

Anyone can report a phone, but the report has to come from a verified phone number, and a person reviews it before it affects anything anyone can see.

Until it is approved it is invisible outside Mobilo. Without that, filing reports would become a way to sabotage honest shops.

Common questions

Who can see my report?
A Mobilo moderator, while it is under review. Once approved, anyone checking that IMEI sees that a reviewed report exists — never who filed it.
Does Mobilo sell phones?
No. Mobilo never holds stock. Phones stay with the vendors and sellers who own them.
